Best gym in Los Angeles and why do you love going there?

LA invented gym culture and there are so many options now. Venice has Gold’s and West Hollywood has Equinox. Then there are Barry’s, EōS, Planet Fitness, the list goes on.

What’s your favorite gym and why?

I joined Equinox in Beverly Hills. I know, expensive, but Equinox has corporate membership arrangements, so I don’t pay the full price. I actually go because the locker room/steam situation makes me feel like a person after work, not a corpse.

They have great equipment, nice showers, everything feels maintained and you have plenty of parking. Classes are fun. It’s also just a short drive from where I live. Worth it.

I just go to Muscle Beach when the weather’s good. Paid gyms feel stupid when the pit is right there. Yeah, not the paid area.. just the sandpit with rings, bars, ropes, boxing.

I like to play volleyball too.

I have a $15/month membership for Planet Fitness. The one on Manchester Blvd (Inglewood) is decent and open 24/7.

It gets the job done. I won’t pay $320+ a month for something like Equinox. I just don’t see the value in that.

I have the black card for 25 bucks a months. Planet Fitness is cheaper than LA Fitness and in my eyes the better gym as well.

Are there better gyms out there? Sure, but the price is unmatched.

I was an Equinox member for a year, but figured that I prefer home workouts. I just didn’t like to sit in traffic after work. Now I do yoga at home most days. 30–40 minutes, no commute, no membership and I actually finish the session.

South Pas Fitness in Pasadena is the one I use. It’s not as cheap as LA Fitness or Planet Fitness, but it’s only one third of would you would pay at Equinox (and it has the better ratings).

They have a great selection of machines and open areas. The staff is friendly and knows how to operate the equipment. It’s very clean and never super crowded. You find parking behind the building. Not much to complain about. One small thing is the lighting, it feels a bit too bright for my taste.

I got tired too. Spending 25 min in traffic (each way) wasn’t worth a one-hour workout. Now it’s YouTube + a Yoga mat. Another positive aspect is that I work out more frequently now.

Right, there are no more excuses like traffic or dirty showers. Way to go, girl!

I can recommend Anytime Fitness in Santa Monica. The 24/7 access is amazing. It’s a rather small guys, but it has everything you need and it’s spotless.

There is free parking (90 min) across the street.

SixPax Gym in Culver City is probably the coolest gym I’ve ever seen. It’s a completely different and fun concept. Check them out and thank me later. If there’s any gym that gets you in shape, it’s the one.

They have a couple other Anytime Fitness locations across L.A. county. Did a trial training once, liked it, but it was a bit far away.

Joined Planet Fitness in walking distance. It’s okay, not the same experience..

That’s nice. I was a member many years ago. Back then a membership was around $130. I think now it’s like $330. Doesn’t add up.
