My husband still questions our L.A. move, so I want to show him the best rooftop bar in Los Angeles. Any suggestions for someone who has never visited L.A.?

I feel your husband. 
Most people either like NY or L.A.. but if he loves NY, I would go for Spire 73. That one has certainly the most NY vibes… with a bit more sunshine.

If you want something that really feels “wow,” check out Perch. It has an amazing skyline view, live music sometimes, and a romantic Parisian vibe, great for impressing someone new to L.A.

Sunset Tower in West Hollywood. After that drive 2-3 miles down west to In-N-Out or whatever he likes.
Never tried the Tesla burger so far. Might be worth a visit.

Go to WeHo or Beverly Hills, there are a couple rooftop bars with impressive views.
At the end of the day.. he has to adapt or it will be challenging.

The Delphi Downtown L.A., formerly known as The Standard. Not sure how much changed, but it's likely one of the best locations out there.

Spire 73 is still the one that blows people’s minds. 73rd floor of the InterContinental Downtown, tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere. On a clear night you can see from the Hollywood Hills all the way toward the ocean. Fire pits, blankets when it gets chilly, and solid cocktails (they’re not cheap though).
Best at sunset if you can get a seat next to the windows. Reservations are pretty much required on weekends. Not that crowded during the week..

That’s truly impressive.
That is the right ambience for a late-night cocktail.
I wonder if they still have these iconic red waterbed pods. Probably not, as they redesigned the whole place. I might go there next weekend. It still impresses from what I was told.

Just found this video. They removed the waterbeds. Still lovely. Does anyone know if they play live music on the weekends (like The Standard did)?

They have jazz nights on Thursdays. The electronic / house music events on the weekends are gone for now.

I swear it's such a strange place. It's beautiful, yes, but they don't seem to do any advertising. You barely find any YouTube videos as well. It's either the worst marketing or done on purpose.
I never saw such an amazing place being pretty much invisible to anyone who doesn't know about it.

This is a bit off topic, but you should try Savanna Rooftop for wedding events. Amazing views and top-notch service.
Perch on Hill St is one of the better places. Many describe it as a hidden gem. Views are great and the staff is incredible. It would be my first choice for drinks in Downtown.
Level 8 is also pretty good. It offers the most unique nightlife and dining experience. Spire 73 in case you want the best views. The food there is also decent. Great if you want to impress your husband.
I said it before, if it’s just about the views.. you might just consider a hike, but if you want the rooftop experience… let’s break it down.
Since he is new to LA, keep it Downtown and let the skyline do the convincing.
Start at Spire 73 (InterContinental). 73rd floor, tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere. On a clear night that view alone answers the was-it-worth-moving question.
Then walk over to Perch on Hill St. Rooftop, French bistro feel, romantic without trying too hard. I am usually there before midnight anyway.
If you want the whole night in one building, Level 8 has multiple bars, food and a real scene. And the Delphi (the old Standard) still has one of the best locations in the city even after the redesign.
For classic old-Hollywood glamour instead of skyline, Sunset Tower in WeHo never misses.
Spire 73 first for the wow, Perch after. That one-two usually does it.

The Sunset Tower offers some of the best views over downtown, Century City and so on. Maybe the best views to be honest.
In regards of Spire 73, I agree. Worth a visit. We talked about that in another thread as well. Everyone wondering what that place is about, please check below.
