I tried it once in LA and expected it to be painfully awkward, but it was actually pretty fun. ![]()
You quickly realize who you click with and who you absolutely don’t. I didn’t find love (I never expected that in the first place), but I’d definitely do it again.
You just have to adjust your expectations. Don't be too judgemental of the people you meet. See it as a fun experience.
Never did and never will. The pure thought of it gives me anxiety. I am just not made for that kind of interaction. I am the type of guy who prefers to meet in some strange online world, talk for weeks/month and eventually meet for a coffee. I have to feel like I already kinda know that person. Otherwise it just feels strange.
I feel that 100% as well. I am the sapio type of guy who, on top of that, needs to have some connection. That's why Tinder is a waste of time for me.
Speed dating would trigger some feelings I can't even describe. Not good ones..
I haven’t, mostly because the whole concept sounds terrifying.
Maybe I am too old-school and don't like to leave my comfort zone.
But I also think meeting someone face-to-face immediately is probably healthier than texting on an app for two weeks and then discovering there’s zero chemistry. I’d probably give it a shot once. I know there are events like that all over L.A. ![]()
I see, everyone is different. I heard about online video speed dating events not too long ago. Maybe that's easier for people like you.
I went to an event like that a couple of years ago and if you don't find a match, they invite you to the rest of their events for free. I didn't find anyone I really connected with, but honestly, I would go back because it was fun, even though I found that 2-3 minutes wasn't nearly enough to get to know someone's personality. My friend who also went said afterward that it was largely as useless as online dating. I got his point, but it was still fun.
I personally would prefer this. I feel like I can tell pretty quickly whether or not we are going to hit it off. You can't find it out that quickly by talking to strangers on Tinder or Badoo.
So it saves you time and money, huh? ![]()
Okay, I thought about it, but never tried it. I asked because I see such events frequently in West Hollywood. Maybe if my sister joined me, but I doubt she would.
That sounds less terrifying. I would still reject. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
...yeah, or maybe with a friend. No way I would go there alone. My friend did it once, but she didn't have to worry about publicly rejecting anyone she didn't want to see again, or facing rejection from those she did. It's more of a secret vote.
I know they say to be open to new things. Maybe I am not that open.
I would pass on that one.^^
Uhhh... what if we went together?

Nope, not even then. ![]()
I don't even do Tinder. That's just not in my DNA. Sorry, sistaaa..
Guys, remember speed dating is a social event and it’s meant to be fun. As a matter of fact, organizers of speed dating events are banking on you having a great night. This is definitely something you can do with friends. Might be better than just the usual happy hour nonsense in some random bar. Who knows, you might get addicted to it.
I did it a couple of times for exactly that reason.
That's the spirit. ![]()
Did you hear this? It's meant to be fun.
Ask me in a couple of years again and I might consider it as a last resort. ![]()
Oh, Arisu, it's time for you to stop gaming and go on some dates.
Maybe not speed dating, but how about a blind date?
Or go on a double date with a friend? That can be fun too. ![]()
About to play some WoW. ![]()
I tried speed dating and felt it was more for fun than for something serious. And no, guys, I am not talking about some "short-term fun". Just fun in that moment.
I never did it, but I think I would do it for a fun experience together with friends.
Can't be worse than going on a creepy Tinder date alone. ![]()
