Third package gone from our lobby in a month!! Two were sitting right by the mailboxes and one was a whole box of dog stuff, so somebody out there has a very spoiled dog now.
Told the office and got a shrug and a we are not responsible sign taped up. What actually worked for you guys?
Our building did nothing until three of us put it in writing on the same day. Then the lobby door suddenly got a code and the mail area got a camera, total cost maybe a couple hundred dollars.
A shrug is a liability answer, not a policy. Paper beats complaining in person, and send it by email so there is a date on it.
We split a cheap doorbell camera three ways, so about fifteen dollars each, and honestly just having it visible ended it.
Worth pulling up your lease too, ours has a line about secure common areas, and quoting that back over email changed the tone of the replies fast. And file the carrier claim, we got refunded twice that way.
Since I work from home I started requiring a signature on everything. Slower, but nothing has vanished since, and the drivers stopped leaving boxes in the lobby.
Way to go for actually reporting it, most people just eat the loss and grumble about it in the elevator.
What worked in my building was five of us signing one letter and asking for a written answer. Management hates a paper trail that names dates and missing items. We got a locked package room out of it, took about a month, so keep pushing sistaaa.
That’s why we have a security camera in our lobby. I never had that problem to be honest, but I would tell my mailman to not leave packages anywhere anymore.
I know it sucks to pick them up, but better than getting stuff stolen.
