Waymo, Uber, or Lyft? What's your choice when you go out and don't want to drive?

Have you tried Waymo, Uber, or Lyft recently?

Which one do you prefer and why?

Waymo all day for me now. The robotaxis feel way cleaner and safer, especially at night. No weird conversations, no smell of cigarettes or cologne, and the driving is super smooth. Uber is still useful when Waymo isn’t available. Whenever I can get a Waymo, I take it.

The good thing is that Waymo has expanded all the way up to Sunset Blvd now. I don’t have to walk two blocks anymore. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Waymo or Lyft in the US. Waymo is always the first choice.

Waymo is cool and all, but the wait times kill me sometimes, especially in some areas like Downtown. With Uber I can usually get a car in 3–5 minutes. Plus, I like having a human driver who knows shortcuts when traffic is bad. Waymo is nice for the novelty, but Uber is still more practical for everyday use.

It really depends for me. Short trips or going out at night → Waymo
Airport runs or when I’m in a hurry → Uber. Waymo is cleaner and more consistent, but Uber still wins on availability and speed most of the time.

I don’t mind human interaction for the most part.

I never took an Uber or Waymo. I installed Lyft many years ago, still happy with it…

As a woman who often rides alone at night, Waymo has been a game changer for me in LA. I feel so much safer knowing there’s no driver. No talks, no wondering if the guy is going to take a longer route on purpose.

Waymo cars are clean. Never felt like throwing up either. I’ve switched almost completely to Waymo whenever it’s available.

Rarely take any of those ride-sharing companies. Just too expensive for my taste unless I am in a real rush.. wish is barely the case. If I had to pick one, it would be Waymo. I enjoy the quietness.

Waymo for me as well. I doubt the Robotaxi will ever perform on the same level without LiDAR sensors.

Back then, those systems were really expensive. Now they are cheap. Not sure why Elon is against LiDAR. I think he is just stubborn at this point.

I would sign that. Waymo is the best.

I doubt we will see a Tesla Robotaxi anytime soon. L.A. is just too crazy for something like that to work without LiDAR. Tesla's robotaxi rollout is heavily delayed for a reason. Elon still argues that human drivers use biological vision. So what, Elon? The technology to make your cars safer is available. It’s also ridiculously cheap in 2026.

Using Lyft since 2018 or so. Never tried anything else. Met some interesting people over the years. Don’t remember a bad experience.

I don’t know why I stopped using Lyft back then (way before Waymo was a thing). Everyone was talking about Uber. I knew Lyft was cheaper.. for some reason I just stopped using it. Makes no sense.

I remember having it too. Somehow forgot about it as well.

Waymo is the ultimate solution. You don't have to drive yourself and get stressed out. You don't have to talk or deal with strangers either. What more do you want? Most of the time, it's even cheaper than competitors.

I hope they sell these Waymo cars to private households one day. Just imagine how awesome that would be. :heart_with_ribbon:
