I am still in NY and got a job offer in Los Angeles. So just be honest about it.
The traffic is honestly brutal. Things that look 10 to 15 minutes away on the map can easily turn into 40+ minutes during rush hour, and you end up planning your life around it. The city is very spread out. Unless you live in a few specific neighborhoods, you’ll need a car for almost everything, which can feel limiting.
It can feel a bit superficial at times. People are friendly, but building deeper friendships or relationships can take longer compared to cities like NY.
I still love my city. 
So don’t let that hold you back.

I know this sounds weird.. the weather being “perfect” all the time can get boring. You don’t really get seasons like fall or winter.
In a lot of industries here (entertainment, startups, etc.), there’s a constant hustle mindset. It can feel like everyone is chasing something, which gets exhausting. It leaves you with little time to actually enjoy the sunny weather.

You will see a lot of homelessness in certain areas, and it can be pretty jarring. It’s something you notice daily and can affect how safe or comfortable some neighborhoods feel. Not sure how NY compares. I mean, some areas in L.A. have very few homeless people on the streets. It really depends.
Gas prices and traffic are insane. You shouldn’t live too far from your job. You will also meet a lot of superficial people in L.A., of course not all are the same. A lot of people here work 2-3 jobs because rent prices are going through the roof. Public transportation still sucks (but it’s getting better).
On the positive side.. there are Tacos and there is In-N-Out. 
The weather is awesome and so are some of the beaches.
Wildfires and earthquakes. Especially when you are a homeowner. Insurances are expensive yet barely ever pay what they were supposed to cover. I lived in Florida before and had the same issue with flood insurances, nevertheless L.A. is on another level.
The amount of snow at every Hollywood party. Never saw that anywhere else.
