A very L.A. kind of day. Traffic, work, magic skies

I think living in Los Angeles has slowly turned my life into a series of oddly cinematic moments… just with worse lighting and more traffic.

This morning started, as always, with the sacred ritual: checking traffic before I even check my messages. Because in LA, your mood isn’t determined by your horoscope, it’s determined by the 405. Today? Emotional instability with a 72-minute delay.

I got my iced coffee (obviously, hot drinks feel illegal here :grimacing:), and the barista called me “babe” which I’m choosing to interpret as emotional support, not customer service. Sat in my car for ten minutes afterward, not leaving, just… existing. I think that counts as self-care now.

On my way to work, I saw a man rollerblading with a smoothie, and someone filming what I’m 90% sure was either a commercial or a breakup. Honestly, could’ve been both.

Work was… work. Everyone casually mentions “a project” but no one ever explains what that means. I’ve stopped asking. I just nod like I, too, am vaguely involved in something important and mysterious.

Lunch was a salad I paid too much for but ate anyway because it came in an aesthetically pleasing bowl. Worth it.

By late afternoon, the sky did that golden thing LA does, where everything looks like a movie and you briefly believe your life is coming together. It’s a trap. But a beautiful one.

Now I’m back home, windows open, distant sound of traffic humming like it never ends (because it doesn’t), thinking about how chaotic and weird and strangely comforting this city is.

Anyway, if you see me tomorrow sitting in my car in a parking lot doing absolutely nothing, just know I’m not lost. I’m participating in the lifestyle.

I think this is the section here I like the most. Especially since we wanna move to L.A. in June. It looks like you accepted your faith in Los Angeles. Love the sarcasm and honesty. The beauty and the bad. I could write something about my life in NY, it’s just the wrong place. :eyes:

Feel free to PM me. I am always willing to introduce newcomer’s to the city.

Everyone here should have a guide on arrival.

That would really depend on the guide. We don’t want to mess them up “on arrival”?
