Döner Kebab in Los Angeles? Is that actually a thing?

I am a German tourist who loves Los Angeles, but I never saw a single German Kebab place (German Döner) in Los Angeles.

It’s the number one fast-food in Germany. Are there actually good Döner Kebab places?

The only one I know is Berlins on 3rd street. They do online deliver and are very close to West Hollywood/Beverly Hills.

I don’t think the German Doner got established in Los Angeles yet.

Yep, that is the one I know as well. There are other places like „Loverra Authentic Doner“ in Santa Monica which are delicious too, but I wouldn’t call that German Döner Kebab. That is certainly a food that deserves more recognition in Los Angeles.

There is actually another one that just popped up south of Downtown, Los Angeles. Can’t be older than 1-2 months.

It’s called Döner Haus. I never tried it, but it has 5 stars on Google and looks pretty authentic to me.

It’s called Döner Haus. I never tried it, but it has 5 stars on Google and looks pretty authentic to me.

Holy cow! That is actually awesome. I remember Berlins opened more shops before COVID hit and then had to close them down. Was the wrong timing. I will certainly check Döner Haus. Their Döner looks indeed authentic.

They seem to offer beef as well. A lot of places in Germany sell chicken only, especially when I travel to the south, which is of course not authentic.

It’s hard to describe to people who never had one. It’s also hard to find in Los Angeles. Berlins is really good. I didn’t know about the Döner Haus either. I hope more places like that come to life.

That’s correct. Munich got some authentic Berlin Döner places now, but it wasn’t like that for a very long time. I will refuse to eat chicken Döner. I lived in Berlin for a while and I know exactly what I want.

I remember a friend told me once about a place that isn’t far from Runyon Canyon. I think I just found it. It’s called BROT Berliner Doner Haus. Not sure how authentic they are. Their ratings are really good.

Wow.. that one is on Hollywood Blvd. I didn’t know about it either. I think I gave up looking at one point as there was just Berlins (which is good). Thanks for sharing. I will try that one next time I go hiking.

Looks like they deliver via Uber Eats all the way to West Hollywood. It’s just under 10 miles from my place. That would be awesome.

I always thought Germans prefer dishes with potatoes. It’s apparently different when it comes to fast food. That Doner thing looks healthier than a burger.

I would say it can be. It comes with a solid pile of fresh lettuce, cabbage, tomato, onion, cucumber and whatever else they put on there. Beef is rather roasted than bathed in oil. Then again, I think „healthy“ depends on what kind of sauces etc you are putting on it. Both of them are still considered fast eats.

I finally tried the Döner Haus. It’s a really nice addition for Los Angeles. I hope we will see more locations. For sure worth trying.

I finally tried Döner Haus (5857 S Central Ave Ste 150, Los Angeles) and the total bill for one Döner kebab and fries came to a whopping $39. That was obviously because of Uber Eats fees like priority delivery, long-distance fees.. and so on. Pickup would have been $19.75 with taxes. I obviously didn’t want to spend 45 minutes in my car. I feel sorry for the guy who had to make that drive. I found out that this place is part of a franchise. They already have 5 stores in New York, so I hope they…
