How do people in LA actually make friends outside of work? It feels like everyone is busy or already has their circle. Are there specific activities, communities, or spots where people are more open to meeting new people? How did you connect when you moved to Los Angeles? Honestly, LA friendships happen through repetition. Classes, gyms, coworking spaces, volunteering.. anywhere you see the same people weekly. One-off events rarely stick here. I met most of my friends through a climbing gym and a language meetup. It takes a bit of consistency, but once you see the same faces, people open up way more.

Not gonna lie, LA can feel socially “locked” at first. Everyone’s busy and spread out. What worked for me was saying yes to random invites and then actually following up after.

Also: hobbies > networking events. People are way more real when you’re sweating in a workout class or struggling through a pottery session together.
