Is Culver City still affordable or has it blown up?

Thinking about Culver City for my next move. I share a Westside place with two roommates now and Culver always looked like the sweet spot, walkable and central without full Santa Monica prices.

Then I see the listings and cringe. Is it still doable if you split, or has it totally blown up? Curious what people actually pay there now.

I lived in Culver for about half a year sharing with roommates and loved it, but it has blown up. Rents nearly doubled in fifteen years once all the studio and tech money moved in.

Splitting a two bedroom still works. A solo studio now is basically Santa Monica money.

It blew up. You're paying for the name now.

Nice area, but you can do better a bit further out for the same money.

Splitting is the only way it pencils. I pay 1200 for a room in Hollywood and that wouldn't get me close to the same in Culver. Worth it if it kills a bad commute, otherwise the number stops making sense.

A friend moved there and I was jealous until she told me the rent lol. Not the bargain people think anymore, but still one of the cutest, safest spots on the Westside.

Looked at Culver a couple years back and the numbers pushed me east. If you're under 80k a solo place there is off the table.

Splitting like you already do is the only real route. Just know you're paying a premium now, not stumbling onto a deal.

Priced it while apartment hunting and closed the tab fast. Tip though, a few blocks off the main downtown drag drops the price for basically the same commute. Always ask about a free month too.

It’s not only Culver City. My old apartment doubled in price. From 1200 to 2400 in three years. It’s ridiculous.

Look around Palms too. I lived there for many years. You’re basically next door to Culver City and some of the prices are still a little more manageable. Not saying it’s cheaper in general, but my best friend has a one-bedroom for under 2k there.

If you have roommates, I did definitely compare the two before signing anything.

That was my old place, 3439 Vinton Avenue..
