My coworkers and I argue about this every single week and I need the forum to settle it. Where is the actual best breakfast burrito in LA?
I'm downtown so I lean toward the spots near Grand Central Market, but everyone here swears their neighborhood place is the one. Give me a real name, not just "there's a good spot near me." Bonus if it's cheap and open early, and the messier the better honestly.
For me it's Cofax over in the Culver City area. The pastrami one gets all the hype but the other ones are also good, eggs cooked right and the tortilla griddled so it holds together.
Ooh this is my favorite kind of argument, girl. On the Westside I keep coming back to Tacos Por Favor in Santa Monica, that red hot sauce they make is the whole reason. Get it with the potatoes mixed in and you're set.
It's not fancy, just a counter, but it's been consistent for years and that's what I want at 8am. Adds right to the rotation.
Great White in Venice is my move when I'm over that way!! It's more of a cute all-day cafe than a taco counter but their breakfast burrito genuinely slaps and it's perfect after a beach morning. Not the cheapest but worth it lol.
Easy one for me, Tacos Villa Corona in Atwater. Little family spot on Glendale Blvd, been there since the early 90s and the breakfast burritos are the reason people line up. Get the chorizo, thank me later.
It's five minutes from me so I'm biased, but it earns it. Same familiar faces behind the counter, no frills, just a great burrito. Worth skipping the diet for a day.
Working from home I make too many of my own, but when I go out I love HomeState for their Texas-style breakfast tacos and burrito, the one in the Hollywood area is an easy stop when I'm running errands. Add their queso and it's a perfect lazy weekend start. Sonoratown downtown is the other one I want to try more, everyone raves about it.
Their tacos are good, that said, I had better ones in L.A., but the burritos are really legit.
Still, there is a little place called Lit Burritos in Venice and the food lives up to its name. This little store has the best burritos I had in Los Angeles. That one is worth the travel time.
I live a few blocks away. There’s nothing that compares to that place. Their tacos are just as good. The couple that runs this place is adorable.
Wow... that place has almost 300 reviews and a 4.9-star rating on Google. It's exactly the kind of little family-run business I would love to support. No website, no fancy advertisement. That's probably the reason I didn't know it existed.
I will drive by when I am in Venice again.
