It depends on what you are looking for. Venice is the creative hub. Santa Monica is cleaner and feels overall safer at night.

Yup.
With that said Venice was way worse after Covid and the cleanups.

I prefer Venice over Santa Monica because it feels more vibrant and unconventional. Venice has a unique, artsy atmosphere with street performers, murals, and a more eclectic crowd, while Santa Monica is often seen as cleaner and more polished but also more commercial and tourist-heavy. If you enjoy creativity, character, and a bit of unpredictability, Venice tends to stand out more.

Santa Monica, I live and work here.
Feels safer and cleaner. I know we had some bad years.. and many stores are gone. Venice saw even worse.

Venice & Santa Monica are both better than NYC. Just my humble opinion.

I would say it depends on my mood. If I want a calm night out, I would go to Santa Monica. If I need some inspiration and to adjust my life, it’s Venice. Both places have their pros and cons.
I love them both.
