I grew up in Europe, so the clubs there are somewhat on a different level when it comes to fast-paced techno music. Some places kinda offer something like that, for example, the Avalon in Hollywood. I remember partying there until 3 a.m. Sometimes I even went to the after-hours somewhere else. They have a great laser show, good DJs, and friendly crowds.
The best rooftop parties back then were at The Standard in Los Angeles. That place is gone now, but there are other rooftop bars with good music.
I personally prefer the Bungalow in Santa Monica nowadays. Just come early to avoid the biggest crowds. The place itself is just super chill and comfy. Good for date nights. Just know, it's not like the Avalon. If you want to dance hard, then try other places.

I feel the real fun comes from underground events. The hardcore scene thrives in rotating underground warehouse parties and secret locations.
If you want to try fixed places, check out places like Das Bunker or, even better, 1720 (warehouse-style).

Their gothic-style events can be pretty fun, yeah.
The Bungalow is great, but it gets way too crowded depending on the day or the month. Can't be compared to the clubs above. It's more for sipping cocktails and having a relaxed atmosphere. Which I prefer sometimes.

Florentín is one of the better rooftop spots in Downtown LA if you actually want to dance rather than just sit at a table with a view. Usually keeps the energy going. Music varies between house, Afrobeat, Latin, dancehall, or open-format sets depending on the event. So make sure you check that prior.

I never heard of that one, to be honest.
The Highlight Room falls into a somewhat similar category. Classic Hollywood rooftop-party experience. You get impressive city views, a pool, DJs, bottle service, and a lively crowd that becomes more energetic later at night. The music is normally a mixture of EDM, hip-hop, and popular hits rather than underground techno.
Dress well and expect Hollywood prices (if that is what you are going for). I prefer the rooftop of the Sunset Tower Bar. It's just a more relaxed vibe.

The Highlight Room is actually fun. The crowd is rather easygoing with super chill vibes. The music really depends on the DJs and the night. I had awesome nights where I felt it and others where I didn't. I guess it comes down to taste..

Easily one of my favorite spots in LA. Great cocktails, friendly manager, nice views. Tucked away down an alley, it’s a real gem.

I think the Avalon is actually a pretty fun place. My friends and I went there frequently back in the day. Lots of LGBT people are there. They know how to party.
