Where do people in their late 20s and early 30s actually go out in LA? Looking for spots that are fun and social but not overly clubby or full of early-20s crowds, lounges, spots, or neighborhoods with a good vibe.

I’ve been wondering the same. 
Feels like most places are either super clubby or kind of dead. Lately, I’ve noticed people gravitate more toward smaller bars or places where you can sit, drink, and actually have a conversation. Also, a lot of house parties / small group hangs instead of big nights out. BBQs are certainly a good option as well. There are nice parks in almost every neighborhood.
Curious if anyone has specific spots though. Would love to find somewhere that’s fun but not chaotic.
Tbh I feel like people in their late 20s / early 30s in LA don’t really “go out” the same way anymore, especially post COVID (which might change again). It’s less about big nights and more about good spots with the right crowd.
I have seen a lot of people lean toward cocktail bars in West Hollywood or DTLA, and Ktown is still reliable if you want something more lively but not full-on club chaos. Also feels like people care more about the vibe now than the actual place. I am one of them.
West Hollywood, Silver Lake, Venice, and Highland Park are spots that would come to my mind. Especially in more sophisticated cocktail lounges, trendy restaurants, and scenic areas with nicer views. Rooftop bars seem to attract people in their late 20s, 30s, and 40s more than clubs like the Avalon. I never put much thought into that even so so preferences shifted too when I got “a bit” older.
Yup. Some insanely busy spots are still pretty quiet nowadays. A friend told me once that he was never drinking at home before Covid. Now he barely goes out on the weekends and prefers a drink with friends in his own walls.
Tell me about it. Sometimes I wonder where people are in 2026. Is there some secret spot I don’t know about? 
We got the same issue in NY. 
We don’t. We enjoy the summer nights on our balconies, with a drink in hand and a book to escape the hustle. Well, at least that’s what I do.

I feel it doesn’t really depend on the age unless you are 75+.
After all, this is Los Angeles.
