Where to go out in LA on a Friday night ? Recommendations?

Friday nights in Los Angeles can look very different depending on what you’re into: rooftop bars, clubs, chill lounges, live music, or something more low-key.

With so many options across areas like West Hollywood, DTLA, Santa Monica, and Silver Lake, it’s honestly hard to know where people are actually going out right now vs what just shows up on Google lists.

I’m curious: Where do you usually go out on a Friday night in LA? Any spots that are consistently fun (not just hype)? Are there neighborhoods that are better than others right now?

Would be great to hear real recommendations, especially places that are still good in 2026. Thanks.

Honestly, as you said, it really depends on the vibe you’re going for, but a few areas seem consistently solid on Friday nights right now.

West Hollywood (WeHo): still one of the busiest areas, places like Harriet’s rooftop or Or Bar tend to have good energy if you want something more upbeat. DTLA has a good mix of rooftops + clubs, Perch for views, and places like Exchange if you’re into more of a club scene. I miss the old rooftop area of The Standard sometimes. Quick note: I just checked, and The Delphie (which replaced it) has a skybar with a pool too now. I will check it out soon.

Silver Lake / Echo Park: better for a more relaxed night, bars like Bar Flores or Lowboy if you just want to hang out and not deal with huge crowds. Santa Monica / Venice: more casual, especially if you want something near the beach, good for bar hopping rather than clubs. As people mentioned before, some areas in Santa Monica are still pretty dead.

From what I’ve noticed, Fridays don’t really get going until around 10–11 pm in most places. I am super excited about the Delphie Rooftop discovery now.

I kind of moved away from the whole club/party scene, so my go-to Friday nights are way more low-key now. Usually I’ll stick to places where you can actually talk and not deal with crazy lines. Silver Lake and Los Feliz have been solid for that, spots like Bar Bandini or just smaller neighborhood bars where it’s more relaxed. Also been liking Highland Park lately, feels a bit less hectic than WeHo or DTLA, and you can still find good drinks without everything being packed.

Honestly, I’d take a chill bar + good conversation over a loud club any day at this point. I might be getting old.

That is how I feel a lot lately. Welcome to the club. Never tried Highland Park, to be honest. Sounds interesting.

I agree on Silver Lake & Echo Park. I don’t know the bars you mentioned, but I love the vibe there. Thanks for sharing.
