My wallet has entered its careful era so I am on the hunt for happy hours that actually feel worth it. Not the ones where 'deal' means two dollars off a fifteen dollar cocktail lol.
Looking for real value, good drinks, decent food specials, somewhere the vibe is still fun early evening. Where are you all going right now?
If you are around West Hollywood, the happy hour at Pump and at Gracias Madre are both genuinely good value, and E.P. and L.M. does a nice early evening deal on the rooftop. I keep a little mental list of these because I plan most of my nights around them. Half off small plates makes a real difference when you are going out a few times a week.
The Polo Lounge is hardly a bargain, but if you want a lovely early evening the bar menu there is more reasonable than people assume, and the setting is worth it. For something a touch more relaxed with the girls, the happy hour at Catch in West Hollywood is quite good.
Santa Monica represent haha. Father's Office on Montana has a solid early deal and those burgers are worth showing up for. Also check Tar and Roses if you want small plates without the crazy markup.
Surly Goat happy hour. Good beer list, no pretense, and you can actually hear yourself. That is all I need these days.
Koreatown honestly wins this for value. So many spots do late happy hours with real food, not just discounted apps. The Prince has a great old school vibe and the deals are legit. If you want something more modern, Here's Looking At You does a smaller but really well made happy hour. K-town in general just gives you more for your money than the Westside.
Most places that used to have great happy hours seem to be gone now. Bigfoot West in Culver City still offers good deals. Happy hour goes until 8 pm and they usually have live music or something going on.
If you’re near the beach and don't mind tourists (I don't), The Venice Whaler is hard to beat. It has a nice rooftop and happy hour runs from 3 to 7 pm on weekdays.
That era creates legends.
Try Everson Royce Bar or Seven Grand during their happy hour times.
I had some fun times there. The one thing that really sucks is that huge parking lot in front of it.. I mean that one on top of the parking lot next to it. lol
