Which Los Angeles beaches are best for families?

I am planning my second trip to Los Angeles. I stayed in Long Beach during my first trip. Now I wonder what other beaches there are in L.A.? I prefer family-friendly beaches that are not too crowded.

I would recommend North Manhattan Beach. It’s less crowded than the main pier and offers relaxing beach vibes. You have to drive a bit if you want to do a lot in Central L.A., depending on what type of vacation you want.

Otherwise, Santa Monica Beach is pretty empty if you stay 1 mile right of the pier. They still have guards out there who watch out for you.

For families with young kids or toddlers who aren’t ready for waves, Mother’s Beach (also called Marina Beach) in Marina del Rey is a hidden gem. This man-made beach has zero surf in the swimming area, making it incredibly safe for little ones to splash and play in calm, roped-off waters with lifeguards watching.

There’s a dedicated children’s playground right on the sand, plus picnic tables, BBQs, showers, and restrooms, perfect for a full day without much hassle.

It’s called Mother’s beach for a reason I guess.

If your family wants open space and a bit more adventure, Zuma Beach in Malibu is one of the top family beaches in LA County. It’s a massive, sandy stretch with plenty of room for kite flying, frisbee, or just spreading out blankets. The waves can be challenging at times.

Manhattan Beach is beautiful as well. A bit more south though.

Thanks. :folded_hands:t2: I will look into each of them. I want to check for accommodations in each area as well.
