Would you pay 200 more a month just to have laundry in the unit?

I am at the laundromat on Venice Blvd right now with two loads going and this is my whole Saturday afternoon again.

My studio is fine and the rent is okay for what it is, but there is no washer, so every week goes to Clean Tide plus quarters plus dragging the bag six blocks each way. A place two streets over has laundry in the unit and it is about two hundred more a month.

Two hundred is a lot for me. But so is every Saturday. For anyone who made that jump, was it worth it or did you regret paying that much for a machine?

Yes, once they promote me to the senior manager position. Otherwise it’s a NO.

Two hundred sounds steep until you add up what you already spend. I was paying about thirty a week for wash and fold downtown, so a hundred and twenty a month, plus an hour of my life each way!!

The real gap is more like eighty dollars and you get your Saturdays back. Got a stacked unit last year and I have not thought about quarters since.

I share with two other girls so we split everything three ways, which changes the math completely. In unit would be maybe seventy each and we would say yes to that.

On my own I would keep walking to Wash N Dry Launderland on Venice Blvd and put the two hundred toward the things I actually love, like jazz nights and a real dinner out.

Yes, I would. Just do the math. How much is your time worth? How much time do you travel back and forth just to do some laundry?

Unless money is really tight… not even a question.

That’s what I love about Europe. Almost every apartment has a washer.

I would still pay 200 more, yes.

Well, in Germany for example, there is the installation for a washer. Not the washer itself and you have to bring your own kitchen. There are also no cabinets. That’s the luxury of renting in the US. Oh yeah, and you pay electricity yourself. -.-

Is a washer worth the 200? Yeah, at least for me.

That depends entirely on how long I would have to travel.

Most likely not. 200 bucks is still a lot of money, but I we have washers in our apartment complex.
