There is a place like that in Downtown. It’s called Yummy Fingers. Don’t pay too much attention to the name, it’s actually really authentic Venezuelan food. Each arepa is like 6-7 bucks. Location is 5th & Spring St..

Not really a secret place anymore, but The Arepa Stand on Venice Blvd near Marina Del Rey is very good. You won’t find deals like in DTLA. Arepas are 16-17 dollars.

There is a little stand called Papis Empanadas & Arepas Colombianas on 5521 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles. I tried it once when we went to the Tabula Rasa Bar not far from it.
I don’t know how authentic they are, but my Venezuelan friend liked them a lot. It was my first time trying arepas and they were delicious. I don’t think we paid more than $5 for them. The empanadas were also tasty.

That’s rather expensive. They must be very good to justify those prices.

They are rather expensive, yes, but some of their arepas are worth it. I would go for their 405 arepa with braised beef. The ones with chicken are also good. They are pretty new to that area. I didn’t see that store a year ago.

That’s the best one or the Red Queen and add some avocado for 3 dollars. 
Brings it to 20, I agree, that’s just too much for an arepa.

There is a truck called Arepas Street in Santa Ana. I know that’s a bit far, but they make the best arepas I tried so far. The area itself isn’t the most inviting. It’s on Birch St next to some taco trucks. I swear their arepas are absolutely loaded and delicious.

They are muy bien. 
Another good place is Mi Venezuela on Alameda St, Vernon. That’s like a 10min drive (south of Downtown).
Good arepas are rare in Los Angeles.

Good thread, saving these for my next downtown run. From what I have tried, Yummy Fingers on 5th and Spring is the best value, real Venezuelan and only like 6 to 7 bucks an arepa. Mi Venezuela on Alameda in Vernon is solid too if you are south of downtown.
The Arepa Stand on Venice near me is genuinely good but the 16 to 17 dollar price is rough. If you go, the braised beef one is the move so at least you feel it was worth it.

I found another cool spot for arepas. It’s called Venezuelan Bakery and Cafe. I know it’s in Lawndale and a bit of a drive, but worth it.

I like Venezuelan Chamo Cuisine in Pasadena. Ask for the pabellón arepa with shredded beef, black beans, plantains, cheese.. works out like a charm. Paid around 16 bucks the last time.

There doesn’t seem to be a good place in Beverly Hill or West Hollywood. Which means I most likely have to make the drive to the Arepa Stand on Venice Blvd.

Some things are worth a drive. Arepas and tacos belong to that category.
